Aspen Knolls, COO

Mr. Kaplan was the primary contributor to the formation and growth of Aspen Knolls Corp. (“AKC”), a privately-held single family real estate development firms.  Together with the CEO, AKC developed a number of complex and diverse projects.  In particular, AKC developed a 1,000 unit townhome community, Aspen Knolls Estates, under a 20 year build-to-lease contract on Staten Island, New York in support of Naval Station New York

Sales and Marketing

Following termination of the 20 year build-to-lease contract with U.S. Navy, managed AKC’s finances, corporate tax strategy, accounting and sales operations of Aspen Knolls Estates, a 948 townhouse development, Staten Island, New York valued in excess of $150 million.

Project Development and Construction

Directed financial, accounting and administrative operations of AKC.  Together with institutional lenders and supporting legal team, organized and participated in the writing of lease settlement proposals with the U.S. Navy resulting in a contract settlement of $126 million.

Government Contractor & Procurement

Served as principal writer of the proposal leading to the award of a 20-year $310 million build-to-lease contract with the U.S. Navy to develop, construct and manage 1,000 townhomes on Staten Island, New York; helped structure $130 million “AA” rated hybrid finance strategy.
